Tue, Nov 9 - The Pigskin Hooligans returned to their winning ways today with a solid 43-18 victory over the Ragin' Cajun Hot Stixxx to even their record at 2-2. The Hooligans started with a short field after Josh Ulm picked off a pass for his third interception on the year. Thuy Phan made the Hot Stixx pay as she scored her 4th TD of the year to get the Hooligans on the board; after a 1-pt conversion the score stood at 10-0. The Hot Stixx quickly answered, with Jesse Caddell bursting past the defense for a deep TD reception to bring the score to 10-6. The Hooligans played solid defense throughout the rest of the first half, and they held a 24-6 lead at halftime. The Hot Stixx had to drop down to 5-vs-7 on the field in the second half with the departure of Lauren Harris, their only girl, and the Hooligans were able to build on their lead. The Hot Stixx did come up with 2 more scores on the day, including Jesse Caddell using his size to win a jump-ball battle with Zach Johnston late in the game, but the Hooligans consistently had an answer and were able to come away with the 43-18 win.
Max Joseph made a solid impact in the game, regarding 3 TDs on the day including one that almost stretched the entire length of the field. New signee Ryan Noack was a solid contributor on both sides of the football, and he recorded his first passing TD of the year on a strike to Zach Johnston. Captain Mike Russell turned a short reception into a big gain that nearly went for a TD, and he also recorded a flag grab. Zach Milner continued to provide dangerous speed, and Zach Johnston had several solid runs for big gains from the QB position. The Hooligans will play the second of back-to-back games this Wednesday against the Ninety-Fives at 5pm. Come out and cheer the Hooligans!
