The game was a marquee matchup and was expected to serve as a measuring stick for both teams. However, the Hooligans fell behind early and BDB intercepted Hooligans QB Zach Johnston six times on their way to a 48-11 statement victory. Jeremy Robinson came up with an interception on the next play, and Zac Hyatt again would haul in a TD pass to give his team a 14-0 lead. We hope to see lots of fans at our games this year as the team defends its 2012 championship...ROLL HOOLIGANS! The 2013 schedule has been released! It will be a very short season this year as of right now with games only being held on Sundays. The Hooligans will receive a bye on this upcoming Sunday, November 10, and then will play this schedule:
Sunday November 17th - 5:00 vs Jon Pederson's Team Sunday November 24th - 4:00 vs Slytherin The top 4 teams in the league will make the playoffs. Captain Russell is investigating whether more games can be added but this is the current schedule. Every game will be critical so come on out and support the team...ROLL HOOLIGANS! The 2013 season will see the Pigskin Hooligans enter as defending champions for the first time in the franchise's storied history. The team finished 7-0 last season, dominating the league and winning every game by double digits. While the Hooligans have always been a noteworthy opponent, for the first time they will wear a target squarely on their backs as the undisputed team to beat.
This year's league will see the standard number of 6 total teams. With a still uncertain and increasingly later start date, it is likely the season will be a short and cold one as it was last year. If the reports of paid referees for this year's season are true, then that should hopefully ensure much better officiated games and avoid some of the last-minute scrambling for refs in past years. It is also unknown as of yet if there will be any rule changes for this season. On the field, the unretirement of Zach Johnston was one of the biggest stories of the offseason. The Hooligans will field a team loaded with offensive weapons, and behind Johnston's steady presence at quarterback the team will be extremely tough to defend. The 6 girls on the Hooligans are the most since the team fielded 7 throughout the course of the 2008 season. Several records could stand to be broken this year, and many milestones could be reached. Angela Martin needs only 7 more touchdowns to become the franchise's all-time career touchdown leader. Captain Mike Russell is only 6 games away from playing in his 50th game as a Pigskin Hooligan. With all of the girls on the team providing options for 9-pt female touchdowns, the Hooligans' team record of 79 points in a game could be broken. It will be an exciting season and we're glad that all of our fans are along for the ride with us...ROLL HOOLIGANS! |
