The Pigskin Hooligans are proud to announce that 2013 team member Takari Johnson has received an invite to mini-camp with the New York Giants in the NFL! Takari caught 2 touchdowns for the Hooligans in 2013, earning the team's Gold Play of the Year Award for his game-winning TD catch against the Pederson Painters that helped the team clinch a playoff spot.
Takari posted eye-popping numbers in his CUAA football career, setting the NAIA single-season record for tackles (194) and tackles for loss (39.5) along with the single-game record for solo tackles (17) and total tackles (27). His play at linebacker gave CUAA a solid presence on the defensive side of the football and has helped the team improve over the last several years. Pigskin Hooligans founder Michelle Baumgardner had this to say on the signing: "Awesome job Takari on your success, onto your journey to a great career into something you've worked so hard for. Wish our paths could have crossed as teammates in the past years. Good luck!" Takari had this piece of advice for Hooligans fans: "Stay hungry, stay humble." The Pigskin Hooligans wish Takari the best of luck as he seeks to impress the Giants coaching staff and earn a spot in the NFL!
