Sun, Nov 10 - The defending champion Pigskin Hooligans opened their season against BDB Sunday in the first game of the 2013 CUAA Flag Football season. The game was a marquee matchup and was expected to serve as a measuring stick for both teams. However, the Hooligans fell behind early and BDB intercepted Hooligans QB Zach Johnston six times on their way to a 48-11 statement victory. BDB won the opening coin flip and elected to start on offense, and it only took one play for Brad Kindred to hook up with Zac Hyatt on a deep pass for an early 8-0 lead. Jeremy Robinson came up with an interception on the next play, and Zac Hyatt again would haul in a TD pass to give his team a 14-0 lead. On the next Hooligans drive Angela Martin hauled in a deep pass and was down just short of the endzone, but BDB made a goal-line stand to keep the Hooligans from scoring. The Hooligans turned in a great defensive stop of their own to get the ball back, with Karlee Schaus making a great flag grab off a Brad Kindred scramble and Angela Martin making a good pass breakup in the endzone. But Codey Harrison came up big for his squad making a pick 6 for a 20-0 lead, with Hooligans captain Mike Russell breaking up the 2-point PAT attempt. The Hooligans would score at the end of the half with Bre Taylor catching a short pass on a toss sweep, and Zach Johnston split the defense on a great 2-point conversion run. At halftime the Hooligans trailed only 20-11. The Hooligans began the second half on offense, but things quickly went the other way as Zac Hyatt came up with a pick 6 to make the score 26-11 with Karlee Schaus stopping the PAT. Zac Hyatt came up with yet another pick 6 on the next series to open up a 34-11 lead for BDB. The teams traded defensive stops, but Jeremy Robinson came up with an interception and that led to Brad Kindred connecting with Codey Harrison for a touchdown. Tyler Holloway came up with his team's sixth interception of the game late, and Scotty Morse would add BDB's final touchdown of the game to make the final score 48-11.
