The 2015 season will be starting up soon, and the Pigskin Hooligans will reach a significant milestone in the franchise's history as they will be entering their 10th season of competition. The Hooligans enter 2015 as the defending champions after a storybook 2014 season that saw them bounce back from an 0-3 start to finish 3-3 and win the championship. Having won 2 titles in the last 3 years going back to 2012, the team will be looking to claim their 3rd title in the last 4 years and officially earn the label of a "dynasty".
This year's squad will feature a mix of old and new players. Grizzled veteran captain Mike Russell will be entering his last year of play (barring a rule change to allow alumni to participate in intramurals), and he has been hard at work in the offseason to retain and recruit the best talent to make the Hooligans competitive once again. Career touchdown leader Angela Martin is also returning as co-captain and will continue to assist with player personnel decisions this year. It almost appeared that the 2015 season would be doomed as CUAA decided to remove flag football as an intramural sport this season. However, Captain Russell was able to receive permission from the athletic department to run a league if there was still interest. As of this writing there are 3 teams signed up for league play, so it looks as though there will be a return to competition this year. Games will be played on either the actual CUAA football field or the old soccer field (Rummel Field), depending on availability. The current goal is to potentially begin games this Sunday, November 1 but the exact schedule is still yet to be determined depending on the number of teams that sign up. The Hooligans are still finalizing their roster for this season, so be checking for a preview to be released soon...ROLL HOOLIGANS!
