With the 2014 season just around the corner, let's take a look at the squad the Hooligans will field this season (players listed alphabetically by year after captains): Mike Russell (captain), grad student (MBA), 9th year Hooligan - Captain Russell returns to the helm of the Hooligans for another championship run as he continues to work towards his MBA. He has used his famous recruiting skills to amass yet another great team this year, working hard in the offseason to find the best talent available. Captain Russell has steadily improved his game as a player over the years, and he will also continue to provide solid leadership as a coach. He had this to say about returning to the team: "I am excited to once again lead this franchise for another year, I fully believe we are capable of winning another championship!" Angela Martin (co-captain), senior, 4th year Hooligan - Angela enters her fourth year with the Hooligans and her second as a co-captain. She brings tremendous speed and athletic ability as a member of Concordia's varsity softball team, where she has consistently been clocked as the player with the fastest time around the bases. Angela begins the season in pursuit of Hooligan history as her 18 career touchdowns have her only 4 away from surpassing Josh Ulm's franchise record of 21 for a career. She has consistently shown great hands and route-running ability, and she will once again be in a critical leadership role this year. Zach Milner, senior (5th yr), 4th year Hooligan - Zach returns to the Hooligans as a fifth-year senior for one more run at a championship. He brings a veteran presence to the team having played his entire career with the franchise. Zach has shown great speed and agility over the years, and he has been a consistent factor on both offense and defense. He will be a consistent offensive threat at either wide receiver or running back, and he could also be in the mix for some quarterback reps as well with the retirement of Zach Johnston. Dana Ford, senior, 3rd year Hooligan - Dana returns to the Hooligans for her third season as a senior. As a member of Concordia's varsity softball squad she brings great speed to the team. Dana showed great hands as a receiver last year notching a pair of touchdowns on offense along with a PAT catch. She also made an impact defensively as she registered 2 sacks in the team's 2013 match versus Slytherin. Justin Litzner, grad student, 3rd year Hooligan - Justin is the final returning member of the 2013 squad, bringing 3 years of Hooligan experience to the team. He has great athletic skill honed as a 4-year member of Concordia's baseball team. Justin brings a veteran presence to the squad and he has consistently been a dependable receiver, showing the coordination to make some great catches and leading the league with 7 PATs last season. He has also been a solid defender showing great flag-grabbing ability and good defensive positioning. Dorian Lancaster, junior, 2nd year Hooligan - Dorian returns to the franchise after having been a member of the 2012 Hooligans championship team that went 7-0. He was previously a member of Concordia's varsity football team and he has made an impact on Concordia's track and field team where he still holds the school record in the long jump (21 feet, 3.5 inches). Dorian brings blazing speed to the team and he has consistently shown an ability to turn short passes into big plays. His all-around athleticism will be an asset to the team on both sides of the ball. Humphrey Ihejirikah, junior, 1st year Hooligan - Humphrey is the first new recruit to the Hooligans this season. He will be the team's second collegiate experience football player, having turned in a solid 2 seasons for Concordia on the offensive line. Humphrey has several years of flag football experience at CUAA including leadership experience captaining his own team, Slytherin, last season. He has dependable hands as a receiver and will likely be a key target on short or mid-range routes. Humphrey had this to say on signing: "I'm happy with the franchise's decision to sign me, I'm excited to play!" Lukas Mueller, sophomore, 1st year Hooligan - After discussions with his agent, Lukas signed a first-year contract with the Hooligans. He brings an athletic background to the team as a member of Concordia's basketball team. Lukas will be the tallest Hooligan checking in at 6' 3" on the roster, and his height will help him to make an impact both catching passes as a receiver along with deflecting passes on defense. He had this to say about signing with the franchise: "I'm excited to play for the team, and for the franchise, and for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I give Him all the glory, overall I'm just excited to play with the fellas and go for a championship!" Marshall Oetting, sophomore, 1st year Hooligan - Marshall will be playing in his first year as a Hooligan this season after competing for Monsters Inc last year. He brings an athletic background to the team as a member of Concordia's varsity baseball team. Marshall received All-Conference honors as a quarterback in high school, and he appears to be the early favorite to replace the retired legend Zach Johnston at the quarterback position. Marshall had this to say on signing with the Hooligans: "It's awesome, I'm honored to be part of such a legacy!" Micah Oetting, sophomore, 1st year Hooligan - Micah joins his twin brother Marshall Oetting as a first-year Hooligan after playing for Monsters Inc last year. He also brings an athletic background to the team as a member of Concordia's varsity baseball team. Micah received All-Conference honors as a wide receiver in high school, and the franchise expects to see the "psychic twin connection" in play as he catches passes from his brother Marshall. He had this to say on signing with the Hooligans: "If you want to win, put the rock in my hands!" Taylor Parsons, sophomore, 1st year Hooligan - Taylor is the final signing for this year's Hooligans squad, signing in free agency after competing for Monsters Inc last season. He joins several of his teammates as a member of Concordia's varsity baseball team. Taylor is listed at 6' 1" so he will provide another tall target for the team at wide receiver. He showed good hands notching a 3-touchdown game last year for his team, and his height will make him a factor on defense as well. The Hooligans are currently slated to be in action this Sunday, November 2 in their season opener against Show Me The TDs, but we still have not been informed as to the game time. Captain Mike Russell has been doing his best to look into the situation, and we will provide updates as soon as we receive information. The Hooligans look to have yet another championship-caliber roster this year so be sure to come out and support the team this year! ROLL HOOLIGANS!
