May 18, 2014 - Graduation ceremonies were held at Concordia University Ann Arbor as the 2014 class received their diplomas. The Pigskin Hooligans were represented by 5 graduates this year who received their diplomas after many years of hard work in the classroom. Let's take a closer look at these former players: Ali Diallo Major: Business Administration Season(s) played: 2010 Career stats: 4 GP, 4 TDs Ali graduates with a degree in Business Administration. He was a mid-season pickup for the 2010 Pigskin Hooligans squad, and he made a huge impact in his first game pacing the team's offense with 3 TDs in a 61-46 victory over the Pebble Creek Punishers. Ali showed great speed honed as a standout player on Concordia's soccer team, and it made him a key part of the Hooligans' offense as well as a great contributor on defense. Bre Taylor Major: Criminal Justice Minor: Psychology Season(s) played: 2013 Award(s) won: Breakout Player of the Year (2013), Brittany Davis Memorial Award (2013) Team records held: Most TDs in a single game - 4 (accomplished twice: 12/3/13 vs Pederson Painters, 12/8/13 vs BDB) Career stats: 5 GP, 13 TDs, 3 PATs, INT Bre graduates as a Criminal Justice major with a minor in Psychology. She made a huge impact in 2013 as she led the entire league with 13 TDs, showing good hands and providing a dependable target on offense. Bre was a big factor on defense as well, consistently guarding some of the opposition's top receivers and notching an interception. She won the team's Breakout Player of the Year award as the best newcomer along with the Brittany Davis Memorial Award given to the top female player for her efforts. Bre is also tied for the franchise record in TDs scored in a single game with 4, having achieved that mark twice this season. Eric Koester Major: Social Studies (Elementary Education Program - Lutheran Teacher Diploma) Season(s) played: 2011 Career stats: 2 GP, 3 TDs Eric graduates with a major in Social Studies as part of the Elementary Education Program. He was a member of the 2011 Hooligans squad and appeared in 2 games with the team notching 3 touchdowns. Eric showed great athletic ability honed as a member of the United States Marine Corps prior to attending Concordia. He was limited by a busy choir/band schedule throughout the year but made an impact on both sides of the football in the games he played. Jessie Barns Majors: Criminal Justice, Legal Studies & Public Policy Season(s) played: 2013 Award(s) won: Sub of the Year (2013) Career stats: 4 GP, 2 TDs, 4 PATs Jessie graduates as a double major in both Criminal Justice and Legal Studies & Public Policy. He was a great mid-season signing by the Hooligans, contributing 2 TDs and 4 PATs to the team. Jessie showed great speed honed as a 2-year member of Concordia's football team as a running back. He made some great juke moves to fake out defenders and he was a dependable receiver making many receptions to lead the Hooligans down the field. Off the field, Jessie is also a member of the Army National Guard. Mary (Kreutzkamp) Ulm Major: Music Education (Secondary Education Program - Lutheran Teacher Diploma) Season(s) played: 2011 Career stats: 2 GP, 1 TD, 1 PAT Mary graduates with a degree in Music Education as part of the Secondary Education Program. She was a member of the 2011 Hooligans squad, notching a touchdown and a PAT in 2 games with the team. Mary was limited by a busy choir schedule throughout the season but still made an impact, scoring a go-ahead TD late in the Hooligans' crazy 54-54 double-overtime tie against Falcons N' Stuff. She is the wife of Hooligans legend Josh Ulm, the franchise's career TD leader, and the couple are expecting a "little Hooligan" to be born later this summer. The Hooligans would like to once again congratulate all of the 2014 graduates for their work in the classroom. Each of these Hooligans made a contribution to the organization during their time with the team, and achieving their degree shows the Pigskin Hooligans' commitment to the student-intramural athlete experience.
