Nov 9, 2009 - The #1 Pigskin Hooligans went into their second-round playoff matchup (after receiving a 1st round bye) knowing they were facing a team much tougher than their #5 seed would lead one to believe. They were already without their captain, and the speedy Zane Johnston had been lost for the playoffs due to an injury. Not only that, they found themselves playing with a 6-on-7 disadvantage for the entire match. But the Hooligans showed true grit and fought for a 35-32 win to defeat Shake N' Bake for the 3rd straight match and advance to the championship game. Zach Johnston delivered a clutch performance, going a perfect 16-16 passing with 2 TDs as well as scoring 1 TD himself. Max Joseph hauled in 8 passes on the day to go with 1 TD, and brother Bernard Joseph had a TD to go with 2 INTs. For Shake N' Bake, Cliff Buttermore took all the reps at QB going 17-20 for 4 TDs. Jon Bryant had a huge day after being held off the stat sheet in the last game, notching 4 receptions for 3 TDs. Ricky Genson's performance was also notable, catching 5 passes for TDs and scoring 2 PATs. The team was now poised to play for a chance to win the first title in franchise history, facing rival #2 seed Kidney Stones.
